Clean eating challenge -week 2

This week went pretty well. I've got breakfast, lunches and snacks down but dinners are tough. I've been eating a lot of salmon, but it would be nice to find some recipes that the whole family will eat. Something to work on I guess!

This week I lost 1.8 pounds, bringing my weight loss total so far to 4.8 pounds. I also lost an additional 4.5 inches, bringing my total to 9.5 inches lost so far. At this rate I will be in the 130's (but barely haha) by the end of the challenge, which was my goal!
My goal for this week is to work out more, last week I kind of slacked.

Clean eating challenge -week 1

Week 1 is done! I only had a couple of slip ups, and they weren't too bad. My husband made guacamole, and I had a hard time controlling myself!
So the results for week 1 were- 3 pounds and 5 inches lost! I'm very happy with that.
The hard part is trying to figure out dinners. I'm eating a lot of steamed veggies and salmon but I need to figure out a few more recipes, especially ones the kids might eat!

Hopefully week 2 is a success too!

Day 2

Day 2 down! I didn't have any protein shakes yesterday but I did good food wise. I made a crock pot chicken tacos that was delicious! And I put it on one serving of tortilla chips so it was healthy and low calorie! I'm really trying hard to think of food as fuel for my body, rather than only eating what's cheesy and greasy. Healthy food does taste good, it's just hard to control portions. But I'm trying.

Day One

One day down, 29 to go! The first day wasn't too bad. Granted I didn't get to go to the grocery store until lunch time so I had a protein shake for breakfast and lunch, but I don't plan on having a shake more than once a day from now on. Snacks included slices of deli ham, string cheese, an apple. Dinner was salmon cakes and steamed broccoli. So I'm not starving by any means, but I'm not stuffing myself full of McDonald's every meal either. So far I feel good eating lots of fruit and veggies and meats. It's been tough though because there are lots of cookies and cake leftover from Lucas's birthday party.  I'm being good though! I think for me, for these 30 days I need to go cold turkey on pop, sugar, junk food as once I start I can't stop. When the 30 days is up I might allow myself a treat occasionally but we'll see!
And one more thing, I am only going to weigh myself once a week, on Sundays! I weighed 149 on Sunday so I'm anxious to see what this coming Sunday brings. I also took measurements so that will be fun to see changes there!

Clean eating challenge

I signed up to participate in a clean eating challenge. My weight is hovering around 147 now, and I am sick of eating junk food all the time. I feel so gross and flabby. I've got my first two days menu all planned out, and McDonald's is not on it! I've gotten really bad with my eating habits so this challenge is the perfect thing to get me started on really clean eating, and the trainer will hold me accountable! I'll try and update here several times a week with maybe some recipes, and what kind of foods I've been eating. Wish me luck!

Progress pictures

It's been awhile, sorry! I'm still here, going to the gym and trying to eat better. Food is my downfall. I love to eat, and junk food is just so yummy. Recently though I got sick of being stuck at a weight so I started really watching what I eat and I'm seeing results. I've been eating a lot of salmon and veggies, bananas, and really watching portions with not so healthy foods.

Workouts are mostly spin (cycle) classes as of late, and a few turbos thrown in there. I haven't taken a ripped class in weeks. I think I got burnt out on those two classes. Shred, I will take when my gf goes with me, but shred is 30 minutes of insanity. It's so tough, it's just not fun. Hopefully I can get back to turbo soon.

Today I weighed in at 145.2.  I'm so glad I've kept up with my fitness journey, it's always hard but if I'd given up I'd be (at least) 30 pounds heavier. Yay for results! I still feel like I don't look much different than I did at the beginning but after 30 pounds I must look at least a little different!

Small victories

This week, I fit into size 8 jeans! It's been a long time.
On that note, it surprises me how varied clothes sizing is. I know that old navy has several different jeans styles and where I may be a size 8 in the sweetheart style, I will be a 12 in the diva style, just for example.

I was browsing Instagram for fitness inspiration and I came across a woman who was getting in shape after a baby. She said at 280 pounds she was a size Large in maternity pants. When I topped out at 205 pounds while pregnant, I was a size large. How could someone EIGHTY pounds bigger than me wear the same size? And she said at 205 pounds before getting pregnant, she was a 14/16 pants size. I was that size at 170! I know I shouldn't care about sizes, just how fit I am, but it does confuse me when there I such a huge discrepancy.
I wonder if plus size stores have different sizing? Very interesting.
Today was a bad day at the gym. I did turbo kick, as it is turbo Tuesday, but I just couldn't get any energy to really work it. The baby still wakes multiple times a night and while I'm used to it and just get through it, there are days at the gym where I'm so exhausted I feel like passing out. Today was one of those days unfortunately.
But as I tell myself repeatedly, it will get better! I just have to survive it! And thank goodness both kids nap at the same time (usually) so most days I can sneak in a nap too :)
